Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, Says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6
Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Through her teaching Carmen Camino has touched hundreds of people’s lives and helped bring His light to their path. These personal testimonies relate the impact of Carmen’s ministry.
I have attended several lectures from my dear childhood friend, Carmen Camino, and I must confess that since I have attended those lectures, my spiritual life has improved. How? They have taught me to have more patience with others, to love more without expecting to receive anything or very little… and it has shown me the importance of being a better person. To forgive, which I know is not easy, and to turn the page.
Carmen teaches, through the Word of God, what to do during difficult times, which we all encounter at some point in our lives. She teaches how to reach out to God and ask Him for help so that we can feel protected, at peace and close to God, who loves us unconditionally. I have learned to be a thankful human being, and to always leave my cares in God’s hands, for He cares for me.
The interesting thing is that I have always received Carmen’s CD’s right at the moment when I was going through a trial or sorrow. God knew exactly the perfect time for me to receive His love and comfort through the power of His Word.
These are the things that I have compiled from her lectures, which are always interesting and pleasant. She gives personal examples of things that have happened to her that make the scriptures come alive.
I thank Carmen for being such a good friend and for sharing with us so much wisdom. I have learned so much from her. Thank you, Carmen.
When I heard Carmen’s teaching on prayer, I had been going through a period of spiritual dryness. I felt that God was far away and I had this dryness in my heart, even though I kept praying that God would remove it. At that time I received Carmen’s CD where she was teaching on prayer, and I was impacted by the Gospel verses, where Jesus reminds us that if we pray with faith, humility and persistence, He will hear our prayers. With that assurance, I appealed to the Lord, and I felt His wonderful grace being poured upon me. Whenever my relationship with the Father seems to get cold, I immediately pray, as He has taught us, in order to get closer to Him.
Carmen’s friend in Peru, Leonie Voto Bernales, took Carmen to teach at the Women’s Jail in Peru. Carmen shares these stories from the experience:
The first time I visited the women’s jail in Peru, my friend Leonie Voto Bernales took me. After I taught to a group of young girls, they all accepted Christ into their lives. Two of them wrote their testimonies in a Catholic magazine. The Lord changed the lives of these girls.
In 2008, as I was preparing to teach at the Women’s Jail in Peru, my friend Nancy asked me what scripture I was going to use to teach them. I told her that I was going to teach on Genesis 39, which is the story of Joseph. In this chapter, no matter what was happening in Joseph’s life, it was so comforting to read that God was with Joseph. So I told Nancy that I wanted these women, to know that even though they were in jail, God was with them the same way He had been with Joseph, when he ended up in jail falsely accused.
When we went to the jail, we met with a British woman who had been incarcerated for several years. She felt an urge that day to attend my teaching to the prisoners. And after the teaching, she came to me in tears saying that what had really touched her during that teaching was that God was with her. I’m always amazed how God speaks to us through His Word. He told me what to teach that day because there was one woman who needed to hear that.
Leonie Voto Bernales, who accompanied Carmen to the teaching at the Peruvian jail, had this to share about the experience:
In Carmen’s last teaching in the jail, she mentioned that God is with us always no matter where we are. He promises us that He will never leave us alone. These words directly touched the heart of a British inmate, who had been literally dying of loneliness and grief for her family. She left Carmen’s teaching comforted, feeling that her words had been directed especially to her, and her health began to improve rapidly. She was miraculously healed and shortly after was sent back to her country. She has written to us telling us that she is doing well and that she is surrounded by her family.
Also, the girls Carmen has taught have grown so much spiritually within the confines of this jail, and they are themselves a testimony of the joy and peace that the grace of God gives.
The first time I met Carmen Camino, I was deeply touched by her genuine humility and grace. I saw Christ radiate in her that very day, and consistently ever since then. The first time I heard Carmen teach, my eyes teared up. I could actually feel my heart burning as it was being immersed in the Word of God. I couldn’t write fast enough as I tried to capture the wisdom in that teaching. (I still have those notes!)
I can tell you from that very day, I have seen the Father even more intimately! I have learned so much from Carmen through her teachings, wisdom and walk. I have grown in my walk and my ministry because of how God has used Carmen in my life.
Several years ago, God blessed me to become Carmen’s prayer partner, best friend and traveling companion. Because of that, I often get to see the seeds and the fruit first hand. I am constantly amazed that wherever we are -- Peru, Mexico, or the USA -- when Carmen teaches, lives are changed! I have seen it with my own eyes! Over and over, hearts turn toward Christ. I see some delighting in a truth from the Bible that they didn’t know before. I see others with renewed strength from the Holy Spirit to press on in their journey.
It doesn’t matter if Carmen is teaching at a conference, Bible study, or a prison... in English or in Spanish, it’s ‘God’s doing’, and it’s a breathtaking encounter. I thank God for the calling He has given Carmen Camino. To God be the Glory.
My name is Jorge Olivas and I started as a missionary pastor ten years ago in the city where I was born and grew up. It was at that time that I returned to Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, and started a Calvary Chapel in Spanish. I have seen men and women, who love God, start fulfilling and confirming God’s plan for their lives to reach out and edify the souls who give their lives to our most wonderful Lord Jesus Christ.
One of these people is Carmen Camino, whom I met at Calvary Chapel Albuquerque, NM. Both she and I were at a time of growth with regard to the spiritual gift of teaching that God had given us. Six years ago we invited Carmen to teach her very first teaching at our church. There were only 10-15 women. They were very excited about their walk with God, and they said: “Carmen’s teaching was simple and refreshing to our lives. We understood that God doesn’t need to shout at us. He speaks softly to us because we are women.” This was their testimony after they heard Carmen teach.
It was at that time that God confirmed Carmen’s calling. We were so motivated by her teaching that we invited her to come back to do a conference. This time it was not only for the church but we opened it for all the women in the city. We prayed, planned, and Carmen came back. This time we rented a hall and more than 300 women attended. Many rededicated their lives to Christ while others gave their hearts to the Lord for the first time. One of these women was Lily Guzman, who is wife and mother of two daughters, whose testimony, as a daughter of God, has been able to bring her family to Christ. God confirmed her calling of worshipper by her beautiful voice through music.
The gift of teaching that God gave Carmen has been confirmed as we saw how many lives were being touched by her teachings. But Carmen not only ministers to women. The many times I have heard her teach, God spoke to my life as a husband and as a pastor as well. God has allowed us to have four conferences with her and in all of them we have seen the results of her teachings guided, filled and directed by the Holy Spirit.
As a pastor, one of the things I like about Carmen is that she teaches the Bible without taking the message of God out of context. She does it in a simple way that touches hearts and minds helping the women to apply it to their lives.
Carmen is also an example of how God begins in the life of a person, and how that calling often starts with only a few, like it happened at our church. And God continues His work. My heart is so joyful to know that Carmen, not only has taught in our country, Mexico, but also in Peru. She also teaches at the women’s ministry at her local church. Carmen is a bilingual teacher who reaches out to English and Spanish speaking women.
My prayer for her is that God continues to use her to motivate other women to stand up for the Lord and be used by Him. There is no One like our Lord Jesus Christ, Creator of the universe.
